The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar SFJ005P1 Limited Edition is part of the iconic Speedtimer line and Seiko has taken the classic design and updated it with a contemporary flair and materials. With it's 42mm diameter case (excluding crown) and 48.3mm lug to lug distance the SFJ005P1 is a very comfortable and most of all stylish wrist companion. Of course the watch is water resistant to 100m and the beautiful dial is protected by a sapphire crystal. The movement powering all this is the Seiko Cal. 8A50 chronograph movement, which is solar powered and accurate to approximately 15 seconds per month and a battery life up to 6 months. But now we get to the thing that likely puzzled you at first: what is going on with all the subdials! To begin with the easy part: at 6 o'clock you find the normal hour and hands. However these hands also double as a 60 minute counter if you go to the stopwatch mode. At 10 o'clock you have the 1/10th hand, at 12 the normal seconds hand and at 2 the 1/100th hand. So once you hit the chronograph the 12 o'clock hand will tick once per second, the 10 o'clock hand will make a full rotation in 1 second and the 2 o'clock hand will rotate 10 times per second. That way you can measure time with an incredible accuracy. Now, you may not always need it, but it looks incredibly cool to see the hands spinning!
The Seiko Speedtimer range has been pushing boundaries for nearly 60 years and continues to do so to this day!
This model, the Analog Quartz Chronograph 40th Anniversary Limited Edition, is limited to just 4000 pieces.
